The inspiration came due to my youngest son Jeremy getting injured. Here is our story.

The inspiration came due to my youngest son Jeremy getting injured. Here is our story.
Jeremy’s fight to live began with a senseless act of violence that was perpetrated on him during the night of January 2nd, 2019, where he was left paralyzed from the neck down by a shooter who has since then been placed in police custody for such a heinous act initiated by a mistaken identity. Jeremy has been truly hopeful in his recovery to regain the standard of living that he was making the best of as a soldier that served his country and Barber. Jeremy has had to spend an extended amount of time in VCU’s Recovery Unit as it has been a long journey of dealing with pneumonia and injury related illnesses that have taken a toll on his body and his psyche. Yet, his ability to remain faithful in those who have surrounded him with loving intentions has been awesome to witness to say the least.
Eye-survived represent the trauma we have endured and our healing journey . Everyone has a story. What is yours? Thank you for becoming a part of the eye-survived family.

What inspired us to be different ?
Two shots in the dark,
One to usher me out of here
And the other to light a spark
Bringing life unexpected to a 90° turn
Looking towards the upper atmosphere
While all else inside me burn
Yet Eye Survived
Abused though unbroken
Confused into the unspoken
Feeling alone with the unfamiliar
In the moments when light looks peculiar
To peek through pink

Lost everything I had to a blaze
And Still found the ability to amaze
Every listening ear to the story foretold
Of this lifetime given in which I remain driven
To reach every one of my promised goals
That I may encourage all to understand that being Blessed
Is the ability to survive to hear the word……
